Hanna-Riikka Kuisma (b. 1978) is a novelist, art critic and column writer from Pori. Her first publication, Life Sentence, is a collection of short stories published by Like Publishing in 2005. Since then she has published three novels: Snake Pit (WSOY 2007), At the Heart of the Shadow (Like 2011) and the latest White Light (Like, 2013). Kuisma’s texts have also been included in anthologies.
Kuisma’s works chart the dark sides of modern society and the human mind. The ominous charged mood and pin sharp realism are balanced with visuals saturated in colour and poetic language. Among others, Juha Seppälä, Asko Sahlberg and Hanna Marjut Marttila are considered to be Kuisma’s literary kindred spirits.
