Arja Puikkonen

Arja Puikkonen (b. 1948) has been a writer as well as a creative writing teacher. Puikkonen has taught literary arts primarily to children and young people. In recognition of her volunteer work promoting literature she was awarded the “For the Love of Books” award in 2002 and the gold medal from the Finnish Library Association in 2010.

Puikkonen’s most passionate hobby, however, is horses. She started riding back when she was taking her children to ride with a lead. Arja Puikkonen has been riding weekly for 30 years.
